This website is dedicated to Howard Michael Madaus (1943-2007), former Chief Curator of the Flag Center and the Zaricor Flag Collection.
In the winter of 1970 I began my collection during a visit to Canada where I acquired the first two flags. Over 2800 flags, banners, patriotic and early American quilts and other flag related items spans the 18th to the 21st century. In 2002 an important collection of early American flags was acquired from the Mastai Collection. A significant portion of the original Mastai Collection was kept together and is identified as the Mastai sub collection in the patterns from 13 to 50. Read more...
