ZFC1331 Germany // War Flag & Ensign / 1938 - 1945

Little is known about the history of this German ensign. It was acquired as a GI bringback at JS Military Surplus, Moss Landing California.

Not as well-known as the civil flag of Germany under the Nazi regime a black swastika on a white disk in the center of a red field this war ensign was the second most noteworthy national flag used at the time. It belonged to the German Army and Navy and flew over all buildings and vessels under their control. In the last year of the Nazi regime, emphasis was put on this flag as a rallying point for the German people because of its association with the armed forces rather than the Nazi party.

This small size was used by both E Boats and U Boats

Unknown capture (assumed) WWII circa 1945. Purchased at a Army Surplus store. Original maker and markings on hoist. See ZFC1074 in the Bullock Sub Collection for similar flag and its history. ZFC Noteworthy Flag
