This was originally a 48 star flag alterted in 1974 from a 48 star US national flag to celebrate the 150th anniversary of Lafayette's return to America in 1824.
The 48 star flag was altered and stars redesigned by Marion Butterwick with the help of Lillian Rivkin.Used in 1974 for in the 150 year anniversary celebration of Lafayette's visit to Baltimore. Mr. Jean Hofmeister, Mr. George Conner and Mr. George J. Bereska Jr. hoisted the flag at the Flag house in Baltimore.
The United States flag had 24 stars in 1824.
