Sub-collection: Flag Related Printed MaterialsThis pre-1956 version of the Pledge of Allegiance as a woven bookmark, combined in a Greeting Card is probably from the 1945-1955 period.
An excellent example of the original pledge that did not contain any reference to God, which was adopted by an act of Congress in 1956 in response to the fear over communism. It is rare to find such an excellent example due to its construction and artistic presentation.
Set of six, three of which were gifted to Whitney Smith, James Ferrigan & Howard Madaus.
