U.S. 33 Star Flag - Parade Flag.

Sub-collection: Judge John T. Ball courtroom & chambers flag collection

33 Stars U.S Flag - Parade Flag.
This small, wool, block-printed, 33 star parade flag is made as a full flag print. It is still attached to its wooden staff, a rarity in flags from the ante-bellum era. Parade flags like this example were extremely popular for patriotic purposes prior to and during the American Civil War.

The previous history of this 33 star flag is unknown, but it was part of the acclaimed collection of Superior Court Judge John T. Ball, of Santa Clara County, California. Because of the legal constraints imposed upon courtroom decor, Judge Ball used his collection to decorate the walls of his courtroom; there being no specifications on the display of the United States flag.

Provenance: Acquired by in 2002 by private purchase by the Zaricor Flag Collection from the Judge John T. Ball Flag Collection of San Jose, CA.
