Germany // Reichskriegsflagge - Naval Ensign / 1938 -1945
Little is known about the history of this German naval ensign it is thought to have been a GI bringback. Not as well-known as the civil flag of Germany under the Nazi regime a black swastika on a white disk in the center of a red field this war ensign was the second secondary national flag used at the time. It belonged to the German Army and Navy and flew over all buildings and vessels under their control. In the last year of the Nazi regime, emphasis was put on this flag as a rallying point for the German people because of its association with the armed forces rather than the Nazi party.
