Special Memorial Day Display Flags on Easels in the Moraga Room and Moraga annex Presidio of San Francisco's Officers Club Memorial Day 2003 15-Star, 15-Stripe United States Flag, Replica Date: About 1912 - 1914 Comment: This small replica of the Star-Spangled Banner was made for the centennial of the War of 1812 and the defense of Fort McHenry in Baltimore Harbor (1814). The original 15 star, 15-stripe Star-Spangled Banner held by Smithsonian Institution is undergoing extensive conservation treatment to preserve it. Although official from 1795 until 1818, only a few other 15-star, 15- stripe U.S. flags survive that actually can be dated to the period.
