Chinese Communist Youth League Flag 1950s.
The flag of the Communist Youth League (CYL) dates from the 1950s when all of the Communist Party of China's (CPC) youth organizations were merged. Surrounding the star, which represents the CPC, is a ring symbolizing the youth of China subsumed under the CPC. Together the star and ring of the CYL stand for the unity of the youth of all of China's ethnicities.
The CYL is for youth between the ages of fourteen and twenty-eight and serves to indoctrinate and train future CPC leaders. The head of the CYL is First Secretary and serves as a member of the Central Committee of the CPC.
The CYL also oversees the Young Pioneers, the corresponding organization for youth below the age of fourteen. (See ZFC1264 & 1265) This flag dates from the 1980s.
