UK // Royal Air Force Wings / Bundles for Britain
Circa 1940. During the early days of World War II there was a relief effort Bundles for Britain which provided food, clothing and other emergency supplies to civilians overseas affected by the war.
In September 1940, as German guns on the French coast shelled London and British Prime Minister Winston Churchill prepared for the threat of a Nazi invasion of Britain, Bundles for Britain benefit parties and sewing meetings were held all over the United States.
These stylized miniature Royal Air Force (RAF) Wings were recognition for aid provided that directly aided the members of the RAF. They are marked on the reverse, Official Bundles for Britain, by MONET.
They were intended for civilian wear.
