German & Austrian War Veterans, Inc., organizational banner - After the First World War emigration from Austria and Germany was renewed. Many of these emigrants were veterans of the defeated Central Powers and formed their own veteran organizations. Upstate New York and the area around Buffalo, became home to many of these former soldiers and they formed the German & Austrian War Veterans, Inc. Their pride both in their past service and their love of their newly adopted country is reflected in the American shield superimposed over the stylized Iron Cross flanked by the dates 1914 to 1918.
Royal blue background, with golden yellow lettering reading GERMAN & AUSTRIAN WAR VETERANS Inc.
The central emblem is a stylized German Iron Cross over which is superimposed a stylized U.S. shield.
This was an association formed by immigrant veterans of WWI.
This seems to have been made in a garment lettering shop that perhaps specialized in sports teams, as it differs from other examples.
