c. 1917, The Service Flag, Silk Ribbon, Choice Extremely Fine.


6 x 1.75, woven with red, purple, and golden threads on a cream-colored background. The Service Flag is (lauded) on the ribbon as follows: It hangs below the Stars and Stripes, A Banner bright and new. Red Bordered, with a field of white and star of deepest blue, however humble is the home oer which its colors wave. It glorifies it with the light that shines upon the brave. 1917 is hand-pencilled along the bottom edge and a Mastai Collection ink stamp appears at lower left. Minor toning, otherwise bright and colorful.
