U.S. 48 Star Flag, Independent Order of Odd Fellows overprint
"Independent Order of Odd Fellows" overprint on the reverse side. Stickers : "546" & "531" & "MASU-20". Transitional star pattern from 19th Century to 20th Century. Important early issue of the 48-star flag with its pattern of offset horizontal star rows. The flag act of 1912 standardized the pattern to a block configuration of 6 rows of 8; therefore this flag is circa 1911/12.

Cotton, thirteen alternating red and white stripes, top stripe is red, bottom stripe red. Union/canton 6.5 inches x 8.25 inches with 48 stars, 0.5 across, printed on the obverse and reverse sides. Early pattern. There is a printed crest/emblem (text: "I00F"). The flag is attached with holes.
