Flag of the chairman of the state, Security of the USSR.
This flag features the arms of the Soviet Union on a red canton in a green field. It was introduced on April 21, 1964 as Флаг председателя Комитета гос. безопасности (Flag of the chairman of the state, Security of the USSR). Komitet Gosudarstvennoy Bezopasnosti (KGB), which was the national security agency of the USSR responsible for internal security and foreign intelligence and as such, was the clandestine arm of the USSR in carrying out the Cold War.

It was discontinued on July 21, 1992. After 1992 the use of this flag was discontinued by the successor agency, the Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation.
