U.S. 45 Star Flag - Mr. Sibler.

Printed red, white and blue with 45 white stars; rope sewn into heading, typical of
nautical or maritime use. See ZFC0275 US Army Ranger Museum for very similar flag.

The cotton field of this important flag is composed of 13 horizontal alternating red and white stripes each about 1.75 inches wide, top stripe is red, bottom stripe is red. Inset into the field, and extending through seven stripes from the top, is a dark blue canton (union) 15.5 inches wide on the fly x 10 inches, with 45 stars, each 1.5 inches across, printed on the obverse and reverse sides. The stars are arranged in six horizontal rows: 8-7-8-7-8-7. Tack holes along the hoist edge indicate the flag was nailed to its staff. The flag is machine stitched.

This flag was received in a bundle by the doner Mr. Silber.

An important flag from the Star Spangled Banner Flag House Collection.
