Description of Crest/Emblem	Double sided flag. Obverse; three horizontal stripes of medium blue, white and red. In the blue stripe are embroidered INSTITUTE ERDMANN and below the city name, BURGSTADT. On the white stripe are a monogram and an exclamation point. On the red stripe are the inscription 1889 and the name LAUSIGK, probably the place and founding date of the institute. On the reverse is an entire achievement of arms first, per bend three diagonal stripes blue, white and red; second, blue with a stylized golden yellow church; third, blue (light0 bearing a stylized wreath joined by a red, white and blue ribbon., superimposed on which are two fencing swords with the date 1889, and the initials W.S.; fourth, white bearing a globe showing Europe, Africa and Asia with lines of longitude and latitude delineated in black., below the globe is an open book superimposed on two crossed fencing swords, below a pair of dividers displayed points up; centered a white escutcheon bearing a balks monogram and exclamation point. The arms is displayed on a pavilion of red lined with ermine; above which is a front facing helm, visor closed, with golden yellow grill; above which is a crown and a crest consisting of three feathers, one each red, white and blue.
