The flags and ensigns of the United States Coast Guard have always utilized distinctive vertical stripes. Presented here in this Grouping are a complete collection of the various types of flags used by the US Customs Service, the U.S. Revenue Marine and the U.S. Coast Guard after 1915.
Included here are two extremely rare pre-1915 ensigns and customhouse flags used when the before the U.S. Customs Service and the U.S. Revenue Marine were separated into separate services. Since 1915 the U.S. Coast Guard ensign had borne its badge in the center of the fly.
Also included here is the rarely seen U.S. coast Guard commission pennant used in small boats, gigs and cutters to represent that a vessel is in the commission of that service.
Finally the Grouping contains a U.S. Coast Guard auxiliary ensign of the type used from 1939 into the 1970s.
