The flags of both the 2nd German Reich and the Weimar Republic are presented in this Grouping. While the German national flags were and remain simple tri-bands, German organizational flags like these are often quite ornate.
This Grouping contains outstanding examples of German embroidery in the form of craft, guild, and social German organizations from both the late Imperial and Weimar eras that are rarely found outside Germany.
Also included in this Grouping are several trapuntos, or ornamental embroideries brought home form German service in the Far East. Again these are rare due to both the small and short German presence in China.
Perhaps the most significant item is an Imperial veterans flag made for veterans of the Franco-Prussian War.
